WHAT IS COMMUNION? WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Communion is the symbolic re-enactment of the Lord’s Last Supper in which he predicted and explained the significance of his own crucifixion. It is also a time of reflection. Partakers are given bread to signify Christ’s broken body and juice to signify his shed blood (I Corinthians 11:26). Membership at Thousand Hills Church is not required to participate, but if you do participate, it is required that you have received Jesus as your personal Savior. You can receive Him by confessing and repenting of your sins and making Him Lord of your life (Romans 10:9-10).
Communion is open to all believers who wish to partake. Thousand Hills Church usually participates in corporate Communion once each month.

CAN MY CHILD BE BAPTIZED?

We do not baptize children (birth through age 5). Instead, we "dedicate" them or present them to the Lord according to the Old Testament example given in I Samuel 1:27-28 and expressed in the life of Jesus (Luke 2:22-35). Child dedication is not an act of salvation; rather, it is a commitment by the parents to raise their child in a Godly home as they submit their lives to the Lord.

WHAT IS BAPTISM LIKE?

Water Baptism is the second ordinance of the Church. We encourage obedience to the Lord’s command through Water Baptism by immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation (Mt. 28:18-19). This act symbolically declares that a believer’s old sinful life died with Christ and that a new spiritual life with Christ has been raised. Water Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change. The practice of Water Baptism is also a public testimony to signify the death of the person’s sinful nature and the new birth that they have experienced in Christ. It is an important event in the life of the believer, confirming the transforming power of the Gospel.

WHAT IS OUR WEDDING POLICY?

We believe that marriage is a holy covenant ordained by God between one man and one woman (Genesis 1:27; 2:18, 23, 24), which also models the relationship between Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:23). Therefore, all of the plans for your wedding should reflect the sacredness of that covenant (Matthew 19:5,6). In addition, the leadership of Thousand Hills Church has determined some important qualifications based on biblical truths, as outlined in our wedding policy.
